GCAP is helping the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to develop an Adaptation Framework. IFAD has been active on climate change adaptation, most notably through the ASAP I programme, and is established as a major actor in agricultural adaptation.
The objective of this assignment is to improve the analysis of climate change risk in IFAD and inform the selection of adaptation measures to provide a justification for the use of climate financing for specific activities. The framework will articulate the approach to adaptation for IFAD and provide steps to be followed by project design teams. The systematic approach to adaptation will contribute to climate informed investments and planning with improved rationale for the use of climate finance.
GCAP brings to bear our extensive experience of working with international organisations to mainstream climate change adaptation, and will also train IFAD staff in the implementation of the framework.
