GCAP & Grupo Laera @ Proadapt Climate Risk and Investment Symposium
In late April, GCAP and Grupo Laera headed to Washington DC to present the Private Markets for Climate Resilience (PMCR) project at Proadapt’s “Climate Risk and Investment Symposium: Framing Private Challenges and Opportunities”. The conference, organized by Proadapt, a program of the Multilateral Investment Fund of the Inter-American Development Bank, in partnership with the Nordic Development Fund, showcased thought leaders and practitioners with topics which included examples of resilience investments in selected sectors, evolving investment instruments, models and metrics, developments in climate resilience data, analytics and entrepreneurship, among other issues.
Dr. Carmen Lacambra participated in a panel that discussed an emerging framing of private sector climate resilience and introduced models being financed and developed by Proadapt. This included a presentation about the ongoing Private Markets for Climate Resilience project (PMCR). Led by GCAP’s Tom Downing and Grupo Laera’s Carmen Lacambra, PMCR is an assessment of risks and opportunities for companies and investors and an evaluation of the potential market for climate resilience solutions in the private sector. Focusing on transport and agriculture, this initiative seeks to examine current best practices and investigate the opportunities in this emerging sector by identifying the leaders that will shape the emerging market, highlighting products, services, tools and innovative processes, creating an information platform with emerging opportunities for investment, and identifying companies that are candidates for investment.
